Seasonal Influenza Immunization Clinics - including MacEwan's staff and faculty clinics - have been cancelled by Alberta Health Services. However, immunization clinics will be available for people in high-risk groups starting Mid-October. High-risk groups include infants and children up to two years of age, pregnant women, people aged 65 and over, and people who have certain medical conditions such as chronic respiratory disease, heart or kidney disease, diabetes or a depressed immune system because of cancer, HIV infection, or some other cause. Alberta Health Services offers influenza immunization free of charge for these groups and for caregivers who live with them. For the general public, it is anticipated that seasonal influenza immunizations will be take place sometime in January 2010, AFTER H1N1 immunizations. To find out about the seasonal immunization clinics in October, please contact Alberta Health Services at (780) 408-LINK (5465) or click on: http://www4.albertahealthservices.ca/Immunization/
